Hi All, Welcome back from summer! I trust you all had a great summer!
First of all, I want to say Happy Senior Center month! This national celebration began in 1979 as Senior Center Week. In 2007, the National Institute of Senior Centers introduced September as Senior Center Month. The month is dedicated to the many layers and aspects of being a senior center in local communities. Each day the staff and volunteers here work hard to make our Senior Center be a place of welcome, socialization, exercise in its various forms and a source of nutrition. I am proud of the work we do and honored to serve the people we do. We want to be part of enabling you to continue to lead happy and healthy lives. So let’s keep an eye on each other and always remember to have fun!
Speaking of fun – we have a fun thing or two planned this month. After Labor Day, we have our end of summer party scheduled. A little later we will be having a BBQ cook off between the Nahant Police Department and the Nahant Fire Department. We have a new grill and we asked Nahant’s finest to help break it in! It’s a friendly competition between departments as they show off their skills around making the best Hamburg or Hot Dog, along with scrumptious sides, ever! There will be voting, by the seniors and a trophy will be given! So mark your calendar and come and join the fun! See inside for dates and information.
This month we also welcome back Erica our art instructor and Michele our music director. Please join us for the times we spend together. More information is inside. This past summer has been a little less in folks coming to visit us here. We encourage all friends, old and new, to come join us this month and always.
Just a reminder for lunch, please call us at 781-581-7557 the day before and make a reservation. The cook needs to know how many folks will be here and it really helps us. So please don’t forget to give us a call.
