Hi All,
October is a beautiful month in Nahant and I hope you can get outside to enjoy it! you will find time to come join us at the Center for lunch and our ongoing programs.
We start this month with the return of the BBQ cook-off between the Nahant Police Department and the defending champions (Best in BBQ 2024) Nahant Fire Department. The rivalry will take place on two separate days October 7 th and October 15 at lunchtime. There are hot dogs and hamburgers and all the trimmings. You get a chance to vote at the end of lunch on that day. At the end of the two days a winner will be declared!! Please sign up in advance because seating will be limited. May the Best in BBQ win!!!
Tuesdays have been designated as Lunch Speaker days here at the Center. Each month we will be select a speaker to talk with folks after lunch on topics that concern seniors in particular. Last month, we had to postpone our friend Elder law expert, Brian Snell, from speaking after lunch, because of a funeral of one of our seniors. Brian has now been rescheduled to speak after lunch on Tuesday October 14 th. He will provide an overview of current federal government policy changes that could impact seniors. Please come and have lunch and bring questions.
Another speaker we will be having this month is Diane Dunfee, our Town Clerk. Diane will talk about the role of being the Town Clerk and answer any questions you may have. She will join us for lunch and speak on Tuesday, October, 21 and make an appointment to sign up. We also continue to go to Market Basket every other Monday,
Just a reminder, we start Fuel Assistance applications once a month here at the COA. Please call we have a manicurist every other Friday and we sing every other Wednesday. We will have Marty
Taylor return with another Painting party at the end of October. And we finish our month with the annual Halloween Party here in the Tiffany Room. More information about these, and all programs, can be found inside the newsletter.
Enjoy the leaves changing ! We hope to see you at the Senior Center.
